The EMS Systems Section is charged with developing and maintaining an
EMS delivery system throughout the state and to facilitating a system that provides a
uniform and high quality level of care to pre-hospital and interfacility patients in the
state. The office provides a state level focal point for leadership, quality assurance,
administration, training, coordination and technical assistance to all EMS providers and
other components of the system.
Emergency Medical Services Section staff are responsible for
supervising and coordinating the following statewide services and activities:

Licensing and/or certification of EMS providers
(750), Emergency
Medical Technicians (16,000 licensees), and Medical First Responders
(3750 certifications)

EMT training
-
Communications for EMS Services
-
Public information and education programs
-
Development of advanced life support services
(advanced airway, epinephrine, defibrillation, Intermediate
Technician, Intermediate and Paramedic)

Fiscal management and disbursal of EMS Funding
Assistance Program funds

Quality assurance development
-
EMS activities statewide with Advisory Board,
Physician Advisory Committee, and other organizations
