Stay healthy
There are several simple steps that you can take to be healthy.
- Enroll in BadgerCare Plus. People with insurance see their doctor more frequently instead of only going to the doctor for emergencies.
- Stop smoking. BadgerCare Plus provides services to help you quit. Please tell your doctor when you are ready to stop.
- Keep moving. The more you walk, run, play or swim, the healthier you will be.
- Make sure that your children have all of their shots on time.
- If you are pregnant, get early and regular prenatal care.
- Apply for FoodShare at the same time you apply for BadgerCare Plus. FoodShare helps stretch your food dollars.
- Some health plans may have new programs to help you be healthier. For example, you may be able to get rewards for losing weight.
You may also be able to join or attend educational programs sponsored by your health plan.
- Complete the New Enrollee Health Needs Assessment on access.wi.gov (available after March 1, 2008).
This information will help your health plan provide better services for you.
- Ask your doctor three key questions at every visit:
- What is my main problem?
- What do I need to do?
- Why is it important for me to do this?
